The fastest fix for pasting AI text depends on where it's going. This table gives the first thing to try for each destination, the backup, and what to do with tables.

1. Click just before the first word of the answer.
2. Scroll down and **Shift-click** just after the last word. This selects everything between.
3. Press ⌘C.
4. Paste into Word, Google Docs or your email.

This usually brings real headings, bold, lists and often tables along. It can also bring the chat app's fonts and background color. If that happens in Word:

- To keep bold and italic but drop the rest, click the **Paste Options** button that appears after pasting and choose **Merge Formatting** ([Microsoft Support](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/control-the-formatting-when-you-paste-text-20156a41-520e-48a6-8680-fb9ce15bf3d6)).

Paste Text Only won't remove `#` and `**`, by the way. Those are text. It's for stripping odd fonts, not Markdown.
